4x4 ADVENTURE TOUR "PREAH KHAN KOMPONG SVAY"
On the hidden trails to the last great adventure of Cambodia
The large Preah Khan Temple in Komopong Svay Province can only be reached in the so called dry season. Due to the leck of roads, this remote temple complex is maybe the last real adventure in Cambodia. There are still no guesthouses in this area, so we sleep in hammocks under moskito nets with the locals in their stilt houses.
Get the real Cambodia feeling and go to places where you, as the tourist, will be the attraction - for the locals.

Please note that this tour is not an "usual" touristic package programme!
But that's the real great advantage of your trip.
As the conditions of the pistes and ways through the tropical dry forest change constantly, we can only give an approximative itinery.
First day:
Start early from Ta Som Guesthouse with our experienced English speaking guide on Road Number 6 to Sambor Prei Kuk.
Visist the temple complex, older than Angkor Wat. Hundreds of gopurams are still standing in the tropical forest.
From now on, only "off way" in northwestern direction.
We have to cross lots of riverbeds (only possible in the dry season when they dried!) and sometimes have to reconstruct our own bridges!
Be sure that lots of locals will appreciate what we're doing!
We should reach Preah Khan Temple in the late afternoon and have time to do a first exploration. The atmosphere in this remote temple is fantastic, when you are the only visitors.
On this or the next day we will also see the traces of the Mekong expedition of Louis Delaporte, who looted the temple in the 1870s and brought masterpieces of Preah Khan of Kompong Svay to France, to show them on the world exhibitions and colonial exhibitions in Paris and Marseille. Today, the most beautiful of them are in the Musée Guimet in Paris.
